Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
