Grief as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation grappling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before escaping on foot.

"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," a police statement confirmed.

Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what resembled a security uniform shooting on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.

It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the incident.

Key evidence, like bullet casings, were recovered from the crime scene.

"Evidence suggests they traveled on foot after the shooting, and police have been attempting to locate them to determine their destination," stated a police chief.
