The British player reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams during the season.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events of the year as a result of the illness she has been battling in recent days.

The 22-year-old had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the final set against Zhu due to a lower back issue that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 victories in the current season and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
