Both Deceased Students Revealed in the Providence Campus Incident as Law Enforcement Continue Hunt for Killer.

The pair of scholars who were killed in the weekend's violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter carried on following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted words of sorrow on social media, stating: “It's indescribable. Remembering her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate new worry for our city”.

The assailant began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official informed the media outlet.

Officers that entered the inn recovered a pair of pistols and two loaded 30-round magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Regarding the nine injured, a single scholar was allowed to go home, stated Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a independent school in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Cook was honored at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at Brown she was a shining example in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the group. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and peers and lament the passing of his promising future.”
